After visiting the monastery and doing some hiking atop the mountain, I didn't think we'd have time to view the museum. I love to view classical and historical art, so I was pleasantly surprised that we could see the collection in about an hour -...More

This was quite an average museum. They advertised several painters especially Dali and Picasso, yet, there was only a couple of paintings each. The museum didn't flow from room to room and pictures seemed quite random. You could walk it in 1.5-2 hours taking your...More

My experience in the Montserrat museum has been really disappointing. In the museum's flyers and entrance they brag a lot about their paintings (you literally see a list of great painters "Monet, Renoir, Picasso, Caravaggio, Soroya..."). I visited the museum this 31th of July and...More

This beautiful place sits high atop a mountain overlooking Barcelona. It's rich with history and religious significance. The architecture is beautiful, the ride up windy on a mountain road in a bus - I think you can get up there by cable car as well....More

I was quite surprised by the art collection. The impressionist pieces were great. The old torah scrolls were fabulous. This was quite a nice little museum.

Don't come all the way to this beautiful site and miss the added information and access that the museum and associated tour provides.

The museum has plenty of history attached. It is worth going with a guide so that you can understand what you are looking at.

The big item here is the Caravaggio painting of Saint Jerome, although there are treasures by a young Picasso, Monet, Tiepolo and Canaletto. This is a wonderful museum tucked away in the corner of the plaza before the monastery. If you have time visiting the...More

I would recommend visiting Monserrat Museum and at least go for audioguide as it gives much better understanding of the history of the Monastery and also about unique exhibition of very rare items collected from all over the world.
