Absolutely riveting. We did not know there would be a bit of a walk uphill and then the walk inside the tunnels, but it was worth it. Takes you back in time, and helps youundersrand the strategic importance if Gibraltar. The tunnels, the canons, the...More

You feel like people 200 years ago, facing the merciless attack of their city. The impressive defence system was excavated during the Great Siege at the end of 18th century, that lasted 4 years! Tunnels were cut into the rock using gunpowder and primitive tools.

The tunnels are best visited with a guide so you can hear all about the years of history behind the construction of the site and the battles. Note: the tunnel has low roofs in place so you need to watch your head. Also the path...More

This guided tour is 45 minutes long and very interesting. hard to believe 14,000 people once lived in there. The tunnels even led up to a balcony overlooking the airport runway. Really interesting visit.

Plenty of information as you walk though these massive feats of engineering and endeavour. Each information point is illustrated with a diorama of event described.

Interesting to see displays and each one had a board in several languages. Did not go the whole length as it goes down steeply and then you have a long walk back up. Glad we made the effort,.
