After you've viewed the beautiful paintings in the Prado, go for a walk in Parque del Retiro. This is a great activity for a family. It was cold the day we were there (low 40s) but it's still worthwhile. You can visit the lake and...More

Beautiful park to visit with a boating area in the middle. The park is easy to access and walking or cycling around is fairly easy. A great place for families, couples or those looking for a nice walk in the park.

The park has some really beautiful features. The crystal palace houses art installations which are interesting. The lagoon where you can rent small row boats is really charming. It was a relaxing place to visit.

Worth a visit while in Madrid, escape from the hustle & bustle of streets. The rowing boats are a great addition to the green areas. Only downside is lack of toilets for size of park. Although, the small cafes didnt seem to mind people using...More

A great place to picnic, run, or just get a breath of fresh air. Some highlights include the rotating art exhibition at the Crystal Palace and the Estanque Grande. There's also a random cage of peacocks somewhere.

Nice place to walk around and people watch. I am sure during the summer it is prettier with flowers and trees blooming.

Very central and easily accessible, this park is a must to visit whilst visiting Madrid. I admired the lake and the Crystal house further down. Quite a one of a kind. Suggest a stroll on a Sunday afternoon. Highly frequented by Madridians.

I also didn't see a train on a walk through the park, but again might be in a bit of the park I didn't see.

The park is mainly a "treed" park as opposed to it's neighbour, the Royal Botanical Gardens. You can find the ubiquitous Cypress tree (its leaves and branches lend themselves well to being sculpted), the plane tree, which... More
