Nice old theater

Went to see Los Morancos here - very good show. The theater has a nice atmosphere and you get helped to your seats efficiently.

Excellent blend of ballet and flamenco. Passion and flair to the performance and at 30 euro a ticket reasonably priced.

Amazing perfomance! Dancers were very passionate, extremely lyrical and so perfectly graceful. Only downside was that we paid €60,00 each for very average seats. Theater was more like a cinema as they were selling snacks and beverages for us to consume during(!) the performance. On top of that, before the performance started, the ushers encouraged everyone towards the "best" (aka... More

The Carmen with the ballet flamenco of Madrid is amazing. You should see this show if you are in Madrid. It's superb, enthralling ánd the dancers are amazing. I'm not a ballet fan, note was I much taken with flamenco. I went to please my partner. It was a revelation. Highly recommend this show. Brilliant.

I saw this wonderful show last night with a friend and we both loved it. The dancers were magnificent and the costumes were gorgeous. The first part of the show was a fantastic innovative flamenco production of Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" and this was followed by equally impressive dancing to more traditional flamenco music. This superb show is on until... More

I saw "Frankenstein, the Musical" here on August 3rd. Tickets were purchased at the big department store off of Plaza del Sol, and they were running a promotion that evening. Tickets were very cheap for the performance I saw. The theatre was very kept in great condition with lots of red and gold. Seats were great, second row center of... More

My husband and I saw a ballet flamenco show ("Carmen") at this theatre and it was a very good show for the value (€15/person, special value for Tuesdays and Wednesdays; other days are about 5 to 10 euros more, depending on your seat). We stayed nearby and were walking to dinner but saw the theatre and decided to be spontaneous... More

Staying in Lavapies

Neighbourhood Profile
Lavapies
Walking into this neighbourhood is like entering a different country ... except it's hard to tell which one it is. One side of Calle Lavapiés is lined with Indian restaurants, the other with kebab shops. Men in traditional African clothing convene outside their businesses for long chats, and people shout to each other across plazas and streets. Interspersed among ethnic specialty shops are independent theaters and dance studios, and two large arts and cultural centers — the beautiful Casa Encendida and the Tabacalera, a former tobacco factory — all of which attract young crowds. Along Calle Argumosa, the place to go for drinks, artists and art appreciators with piercings and dreadlocks convene in the street’s eclectic array of young, hip bars. Though some of the side streets can get a little seedy at night, Lavapiés is still the place to go for those seeking a unique blend of arts and culture in an international and funky neighbourhood.
