These are the ruins of the Castel of Alameda, it's free and there are some information you can read (only in Spanish).
You can have a pleasant walk around the ruins.

Closed until October 14
For TA readers: you can look around from outside a chain link fence, but the sign says "closed for work...until 14 October."

A hidden gem!

I never knew Madrid had castles. This castle is tucked away in the northeast of Madrid, close to El Capricho park. The Ayuntamiento de Madrid is actively restoring and maintaining the castle, and they have staff stationed there to inform visitors of its history. When I visited today, the two staff members there seemed overly enthusiastic to see me - I feel as though not many tourists visit the castle, which is truly a shame. There are pamphlets and signs explaining the extensive history of the structure. Unfortunately these are all in Spanish, so for those of us who only speak English this could present a challenge. The staff members spoke decent English however, and they offered to give me a tour of the complex, so perhaps that is an option as well.
