A must after your visit to the Royal Palace, and also named by the famous architect Sabatini (from Italy) The gardeners that look after this place are at the top of their game. Plenty to see, especially the palace in the background. I would suggest you take a good hour or more to talk a walk. And remember to keep... More

Beautiful garden in front of the castle. Nice views and places to rest and enjoy the sights. On a hot day IT can be a little too much..

Next to Retiro Park, the Gardens are so beautiful. I was with friend of mine in the beginning of march. The weather was perfect, sunny, warm... You must visit. Spend one beautiful and peaceful day in Sabatini Gardens.

Beautiful gardens just to to right of the royal palace. They are beautifully maintained. There are fountains and statues providing photo opportunities, benches to sit and not overcrowded. Well worth a visit.

You will find this small garden when you walk past the Royal Palace from Plaza de Oriente to the Temple of Debod. Nicely manicured, with enough benches to sit and relax, it is a very good and tranquil escape after long strolls up and down in Madrid - and it's still in the middle of the city. A couple of... Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
