We stayed in Mar de Cristal, We visited 20-27 October 2016, school holiday time, staying in Mar de Cristal, although a pretty beach area and we had great weather (the weather is generally as good here as the Malaga area, maybe a couple of degrees cooler), the resort itself was a ghost town with little do, 1 beach café, one... We visited a number of resorts around the Mar Menor, from Lo Pagan, to Los Alcazares and around to La Manga. All are fairly pleasant, modern resorts. A drive along the La Manga sand spit was like a taking a drive through a modern ghost town of high rise buildings, it may be a bit livelier in the summer months... More

Drove down for our usual Saturday trip and found a good parking space on the front. Unfortunately our normal lunchtime restaurant was closed but we did find another which overlooked the beach. Were able to order omelette and chips for a light lunch with a couple of lovely cold beers. Just missed a wedding ceremony on the long 'pier' but... More

This has to be my favourite retreat. The beaches are beautiful, clean and the water is clear. There is a play park if you have younger children and plenty of umbrellas and loungers to rent if you don't have your own. There are plenty of restaurants on the beach front and a few shops to buy souvenirs etc. The mud... More

Stayed here in October 2016 and loved it😄 At this time there were very few holiday makers about. We swam in the Med and could not believe the temperature of the sea. It was twenty four degrees. Weather was fantastic. My idea of a great holiday.

My husband and I love going to Mar Menor especially the mud baths. It's really good to rub the mud on areas where you have aches and pains. This treatment definitely helps. Relax in the pink salt canal then and you feel a million dollars when you get out.

could not believe my eyes when around beach of los espejo. saw some human faeces floating. it put me off completely i wondered if the people of this area are hoping that the brits dont come back any more? area is great but they need to clean up the beaches or risk people becoming very ill!!

Stayed with my partner and friends at a house within the Mar Menor Golf Resort. The Intercontinental Hotel, at the resort, was exceptional and we used their facilities as local residents. We used the resort as a base to travel to local locations such as Los Alcazares, a busy beach and fabulous restaurant resort, Torro Pacheco, a small market town... More

Mar Menor has many beaches all of which are nice. I prefer the stretch along Lo Pagan in the San Pedro del Pinatar area as the water is shallow and the beach is soft sand. There are several bars and restaurants and parking along the seafront and side roads. The beaches get busy at weekends as the locals love them... More
