The salt lake next to Torrevieja is known locally as the 'Pink Lake' due to its odd pink colour. apparently it has something to do with a type of algea that grows in this salt lake. Its nice and relaxing to stroll or cycle around the lake, although I do wish that dog owners would be more considerate and not... More

This is a weird place. Seems that the municipality does not want people to visit - no real path leading down to the water, and no other amenities at the site. However, well there it was a very very salty experience. We got covered in some mud - according to two locals "supposedly" healthy. Dried in the sun, and then... More

We were initially told that there is nothing special about it... and I am glad we did not take note of this. From afar it seems like nothing but a normal lake, until you are standing with your feet in the naturally pink water and you realise just how pink it is. When scooping up the "sand" at the bottom... We had great things in mind when we went there but were badly disappointed when all the lake was was a mud puddle. It didn't look temptating enough to swim in it and the swimming place was really small.

Perfect this time of year... (April) My boyfriend and I walked alongside the south west side of the natural salt lake and loved it. It's so peaceful and temperature was just right. We took a packed lunch and found the picnic area pretty quickly on the yellow "on foot" route. The information centre is visible from the la mata side... More

Definitely not pink, a bit smelly and zero sign of any flamingos. Really disappointing all around to be honest.

Excellent area to walk and is good for disabled people too as it is very flat. Good restaurants and bars all the way along the front. Very pretty area and the mar menor

Several salt lakes which are home to a variety of wild fowl. We went in March and the large lake had just been filled with seawater as the production of sea salt rests on filling the Lake with seawater, allowing it to evaporate and then collecting the salt left behind. The water was a rusty red colour as another reviewer... More

probably the color of water very depend on weather conditions. When we came to see it in March, the color was very close to rusty water, no pink at all.... the coast is not properly managed, not enough paths or any relaxing zones.
