The palatial Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) of Valencia dominates the square, and its bells chime out the hours. Surrounding the plaza are other buildings from the city's golden age, such as the Correos (the main post office). In the center of the plaza, a fountain is surrounded by flower stalls with all the colors, sizes, varieties imagineable. This is a good starting point from which to visit Valencia's old quarter or today's most fashionable shops.

During Fallas everyday at 2pm, the fireworks are let off here. You can hear from anywhere in the city but nothing beats being in the square itself when for five minutes your whole body feels the fireworks as well as hearing, seeing and smelling them. Completely amazing! There were nice buildings around the square too.

We happened to arrive during the weekend and the place was populated till very late at night, with the fountain in the middle changing colours very appealing. Lots of places to eat out, and central to many attractions. Also, you can catch a bus to various places of interest, such as the Oceanographic or Bioparc from here.

The main city square that hosts events including the fantastic Mascletà pyrotechnic display during Fallas in March, great chilled out area for people watching, visit the City Hall and the Central Post Office.

This is one of the sites to visit in downtown Valencia, along with Plaza de la Reina (where the Cathedral stands) and the Mercat Central. This Plaza is very big with nice fountains. When we visited at the end of December, there were a lot of attractions for Xmas including a small skating rink

The central fountain is far from epic. However, make sure that your camera battery is fully charged to capture images of the facades of the surrounding buildings.

Stayed in Valencia for a short holiday around New years Eve. Especially that evening was amazing. Location is great because of the nice buildings (post center, town hall).

Visit this square and understand the pride of Spain and the exceptional Architecture of a past decade of grandeur. Worth the visit.
