We took the local bus from Valencia for €1.5 each way. The bus gets very crowded and we had to stand the whole way (about 40 minutes). The bus also stops at various beaches enroute. Once we arrived at El Palmar we wondered down towards...More

Bus takes about forty five minutes. You are in real countryside and can see the rice fields and lagoon. As featured on Alex Polizzi TV show. Go a bit further - ten minutes walk beyond the bus terminus - and you come to El Perellonet...More

This is the best way to meet Valencia by the south! We loved the lake and the landscape, with infinite rice fields and a lot of birds. We took a boat trip and we ate 'paella', what a nice dish! We enjoyed it very much...More

The number 25 bus takes you to Embarcadero stop where you can take a boat ride on this amazing lagoon. Loads of water birds everywhere. Our boat guide was charming though didn't speak a word of English but that didn't spoil it for us. If...More

We took the Valencia Tourist Bus (Green Route) to Albufera late in the afternoon. There was only us and one other couple on the bus - perhaps because of the time of day? The journey from the city centre takes around 20 minutes and along...More

The lagoon was very nice - we did not go out into it with a boat as the water was very choppy the day we we visited so the boat men did not come to the jetties located at the entrance of the lagoon. Great...More

Drive out of the city and go into the National Park of the Albufera, where water springs out and forms a lagoon, keeping the sweet water for ducks and herons so they can keep their hideouts during the spring and summer. See the water flow...More

We avoided using the tourist bus and did this by public transport. The local bus number 25 to El Parma cost 1.5 euros each way. The journey took about 45 mins. El Parma is a small town on the lake. Boat rips go out onto...More

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in a village near or at the lagoon other than the Parador which is too much for our budget? Thanks in advance!!!

I would think that actually on one of the boat tours would be great, they go slow enough to get some good burst shot photos and you're right out on the water.
