The castle while interesting to locate was delightful and beautiful to view. The Castle not only displays the ancient parts but also has a small coffee shop in the old arsenal, Movies in the courtyard in season and an elevator to the upper levels.

They arranged concert there during Pecorocino Jazz Festival, and what a fantastic place to listen to music. It is outdoors, sourrounded by the walls of the Castel, and afterwards you can go to the rooftop and enjoy the view. There is even a very pleasant bar.

The Castello was recently refurbished and has interesting internal places to be visited. Some parts changed with the diferent owners and users, but is a beautiful place for tourists and locals that use in events. The views to the Sila mountains and Cosenza are great! Take the small bus to go there if you are without a car. The way... More

The castle was recently opened after extensive renovation and is definitely worth the walk up there. Each section has explanations in Italian and English, and there is a large viewing area at the top from which all the city can be seen. Entry is EUR 4 and there is a friendly bar by the ticket office.

Take the time and make the effort, preferably on foot, to step back in time as one traverses the ancient town and be rewarded with superb views of Cosenza and surrounding villages from the Castella summit. Navigate the narrow cobblestoned avenues and quench your thirst at ice cold village fountains en route to the summit. Much to gain with little... More

The Castle was close. It was in the process of being renovated and the sign said it should have been ready by August 2014 (I was there in October 2014). But it was nice walk up to there and it was interesting to see from the outside.

We tried to go to the Swabian Castle on the recommendation of our guidebook, which suggested we include it in an evening passeggiatta. As we started to climb the completely deserted graffiti-covered hill toward the castle, we began to feel uncomfortable and turned around to go back into town, deciding we would try again the next day. Boy am I... More
