Since the recent overhaul, the museum is almost without fault. There is the usual array of Greek and Roman bits and bobs that have been found in the region, but you're not coming here for these (they're a bonus). You're coming here to see two...More

No-one who has any interest in Ancient Greek history and culture should miss this museum. Yes, the two bronze figures are stunning (and humbling in their skilled artistry) but there is so much more to see. The contents of the graves - exquisite jewellery, for...More

You cannot miss this museum, just for the Greek Riace Bronzes, but not only! There are a lot of historical items, the museum has been renewed recently and now appears really impressive.

We came to Reggio Calabria specifically to see the Riace Bronzes and they didn't disappoint us. The museum is excellent and you are able to get very close to the Bronzes, it's definitely worth a visit

While the Riace bronzes are the top draw, the rest of the museum deserves several hours, too. It has an excellent collection well displayed. There are also loads of informative signs in both Italian and English detailing archeological and historical information.

The Riace bronzes, two ancient sculptures found deep in the sea by fishermen, have been renovated and are exhibited in a climate controlled room. There's a bit of a ceremony about entering--you have to stand in an enclosed space to be sanitized before you're allowed...More
