Stunning and beautiful scenery

We drove from Naples right along the Amalie Coast, stopping in Sorrento then Amalie, every corner you turned was beautiful, the landscapes, sea and scenery.

We were staying in Sorrento and from very early on we decided that we did not want to drive in Italy. The drivers are all mad. Tour companies wanted 50-100 euros for a trip along the coast but after a bit of research we caught the hop on hop off Sita bus from Sorrento train station for 8 euros each.... More

We have been fortunate to visit many coastal roads around the world and listening to friends we were looking forward to seeing the Amalfi coast. When we arrived I questioned why we had come? It certainly would not be in our top ten of coastal locations and in our opinion is reliant on its past reputation. The coast road twists... More

We left at 0900 and had a slow drive, not more than 40kph all day, to Positano. The road surfaces were good and from time to time I gritted my teeth when overtaken or two coaches had to pass each with mm to spare! We were unable to find a parking space in Positano which whilst looking lovely was gridlocked... More

Despite some of the reviews mentioning the narrow, windy roads and inconsiderate drivers, we decided to drive the Coast Road from Sorrento to Salerno. This was our only option due to my travel sickness, otherwise we wouldn't have seen it. I was quite anxious about driving after reading reviews and comments saying to NEVER DRIVE along the road. However, we... More

The entire coast road starting from Sorrento till Salerno is delight to the eyes. Every nook and corner gives you picture perfect views of the sea. But the road is very very narrow and extremely winding. Hence 2 important things to know 1) it takes almost 1:45 mins to reach from Sorrento to Amalfi without traffic. The people who have... More

Even if you only go to the Amalfi coast to drive along coast road, it's worth it. The light bouncing off of the turquoise, blue, green Tyrrhenian Sea as seen from hundreds of feet above will take your breath away. The air is pure; the setting is all natural, with villas, hotels, restaurants, and roads with little fruit stands cut... More

The Amalfi Coast is massively overrated. My partner and I foolishly decided to stay on the coast road in Erchie and hire a car. We stayed for five nights. That was five nights too many. Driving a car along the coast road is not worth it. The local drivers are some of the worst and most dangerous I've ever seen... More

On a monday off-season I would have expected the traffic to be reasonable, but it was overcrowded! I am used to crowded areas but this was really too much, actually dangerous with scooters, buses, bikes, and people on the street. Nowhere to park or stop to enjoy the views. I would not recommend to visit the road by car in... More

Yes, this is definitely a scenic drive. Blue waters, steep cliffs, mountain side towns, harbors... However, for us, all of that was undercut by the hoards of people and by the driving conditions. It was hard to relax and take in the views; too many distractions. The term "loved to death" comes to mind. Although the big tour busses played... More
