There are various views on the actual address of this listing, but it seems that the Via dei Mercanti (Street Of Merchants) is the main thoroughfare of shops that runs from the Square in front of the Duomo uphill away from the sea. Ruga Nova...More

Not sure where the Via dei Mercanti actually is but like others my review relates to the piazza in front of the Amalfi Cathedral which is just off the main coast road in the centre of Amalfi. A bustling place full of tour groups and...More

Plenty of activity makes this Piazza interesting to visit and people watch. Lots happening and plenty of shops and restaurants surrounding it. The mountains tower above the adjacent buildings and it has a great atmosphere.

We were welcomed by Ruga Nova Mercatorum immediately upon arrival to Amalfi town Center, just 50m off the main road after taxi drop off. Previously having spent days in Sorrento, Positano and Ravello, the busy square of Amalfi was a little overwhelming given the sudden...More

We had quite high expectations from the capital of the old maritime republic. But it's now just a crowded, hot-spot for shopping. Plus the Duomo. If you like the cosmopolitan atmosphere in an historical setting, then go for it.

Was present for feast of St. Andrew, the Patron Saint. They had a festival light show and fashion show. Beautiful! Small square with cafes. Had bad experience with café across from church toward fountain. Was overcharged and guy was jerk about it. Beware.

You have your standard cheap souvenir touristy shops, but nicer shops are also there. Gellaterias are everywhere. Use TA to pick a better restaurant or sweet spot.

Cute street . LOTS of lemon products!!! Many souvenir shops, plenty of restaurants. Several people were eating fish and chips rolled up in a newspaper-cone....looked AMAZING! I've gotta try that next time!
