First of all I would advise you not to walk to the castle from Salerno. My wife and I did this because we couldn't find the bus schedule and thought the walk would be fun. It takes about 45 minutes or so and once you...More

Accessible by public transit, local autobus number 19, for a euro each way. Even the drive is an event, especially the return ride which loops all the way to the mountain top, replete with goats on the roadside. This medieval castle is a marvel. It...More

Picture it: 2017, Salerno. A young American woman is taken to a castle by a handsome Italian man. Okay, okay. I'm starting to sound like Sophia off "The Golden Girls" but the set up does have a point. My escort was showing me around Salerno...More

Notwithstanding the fact that the ruins of the Castello are absolutely worth visiting, especially if you enjoy that kind of thing, the view of Salerno and the coast from above is absolutely stunning. Aim for Dusk to be there, wow!

Getting there by bus (19 from the city about once every two hours) is not made easier without a published timetable, but an internet search gave us the CSTP timetable. So we caught the bus up, and then were well prepared to walk down the...More

The views of Salerno from the castle are spectacular, and the castle is fun to explore on your own. There is a small museum which is interesting but doesn't take long to go through. We took the #19 bus there (direction towards Croce) and back....More

The castle is mind-boggling, very large with so many areas to climb around and explore. The museum is small but nicely portrayed with items found in the castle from centuries ago. The view of Salerno is awesome and the castle's setting in a wooded area...More

We visited the castle last week . The views over Salerno are stunning, breath-taking .There was a concert there that evening so we didn`t get inside the castle , but it was worth going up the hill to see the views below. Memorable .
