Cool atmosphere but maybe too much tourism

It's getting harder to appreciate the beauty of places like Capri with the sheer number of tourists that go there. But the square has a slightly upmarket elegant charm nevertheless

One can only imagine what the square should look like. There are so many cafes with their seating spreading into the square you would think it was one big dinning area. It must have been a busy community area in its time.

Some of the best people watching in the boot. The hip and beautiful crowd, always out and about. Wonderful vibe.

Its rather expensive for a round of drinks but if you just have to do this - it wasn't actually too busy around midday late September. Its very easy to catch the boat from Sorrento and get the funicular up the hill.

We went in September and the crowds were only during the day when the cruise ships were in port but at night was a great place to stop after during on the way back to our hotel. You can sit for hours and no one troubles you. If you go during the day the shopping around the area is wonderful.

There is more to do in anacapri than capri, the numbers of people are suffocating, fine if you like shopping I suppose. Go to say you've been, either up to anacapri or on the way back. Funicular is cool,

Nice if your out on a Saturday night to sit at the outdoor cafes and enjoy a cappuccino or glass of wine while they have free live music.

I came here in the shoulder season hoping to see fewer tourists, but unfortunately peak season seems to extend into the Autumn months. The piazza was crowded with tourists and very over-priced but the view down to the water was beautiful.

walked through this tiny square on the way to the gardens viewpoint, absolutely packed with tourists and surrounded with extremely expensive shops sell rolex and designer goods

So the first thing we saw, when we got out of the cablecar, was this small piazza, called Umberto I. It is a really small area here, the little square, the most famous square of the island of Capri. The square is located in the historic center of Capri, on the eastern end of the island. From this site begins... More
