have been again at Maschio Angioino last December, it has been an amazing experience, this time was special because a local cultural association named "IVI" organised a 3D video tour, using "oled" glasses: it was like being in the past for real!

Castel Nuovo is probably the most fascinating medieval building among the seven fortresses built during the centuries. The tickets is a bit expensive (€6), and the setting-up may not be exactly "wow" but it is really worthwhile

The castle is truly amazing and breathtaking when observing it from outside. Massive, beautiful and impressive it can really stun especially if you try to take some pictures of it on a sunny day. Unfortunately, that's where everything positive finishes. When you enter it offers nothing that can match the initial high expectations. There is a sort of municipality gallery,... More

We visited here while in for the day on a cruise ship. The outside of this Castel was really neat and great for photos. Upon entry, there is a small office where you can pay 6 euros to go inside - Definitely skip-able. Fee must be paid in cash and they were unwilling to break any bills, there were 5... More

Castel Nuovo comes alive when narrated by an enthusiastic volunteer such as Fabiana - she was fabulous. They say there's nothing new under the sun, and Fabiana pointed out the world's first selfie, original plot lines for Game of Thrones and explained exactly how Ikea got their assembly ideas! The proceeds from the tour go to the ongoing restorations so... More

The castle has a massive imposing presence and makes for a great photo. Unfortunately the interior is almost devoid of interest. All of the towers are closed to the public as they seem to be used as municipal offices. The battlements are also closed off. The Hall of the Barons is a large room now decked out for council meetings.... More

This site was beautiful, relaxing, and filled with art from Naples. Entry was only 6 € per person. Upon arrival the castle seemed rather barren, but when we walked through my husband and I found ourselves smiling from its simple beauty. There weren't seas of people which we really enjoyed. If you find yourself with extra time to wonder around,... More

Rather disappointing I went with my 10 year old son who is pretty keen on castles and he was disappointed. You can't go up on the wall or parapets. Half the areas you can go into were closed. The armoury had no arms or armour and a few lame casts of the excavated bones but no details on what we... More

Castel Nuovo is located very near of the port where the cruise ship docked. It is a small castle. It is free entrance unless you taking the guide tour. Just walk around the ground, looked at the courtyard and taking few pictures should be enough.

Was really astonished to see such a big castle within a city. Always wondered how those people in those era found a way to build something this big and strong without the current technology. Does not enter the castle. Not worth it they say. Just the outside is already more than enough for tourists. A beautiful view can be taken... More
