On paper, Castel Sant'Elmo does not sound quite as interesting as many other places in Naples but this just removes the crowds that you would ordinarily expect to see at an attraction as good as this. The architecture of the fort is impressive, with massively...More

If you're in Naples you must visit Castel Sant'Elmo for the amazing views you get across Naples. It is a bit of trek but there is also a Funicular to take you to the top which a very helpful local pointed us towards when we...More

Take the funicular to Morghen and then its just a short walk to the castle entrance. Walking around the walls gives you a superb panoramic view of the city and the bay. The castle itself isn't really open to the public but its the views...More

It is a must to visit in Naples. With a nice bottle of italian wine, two glasses, sunset. The romantic effect of the view will be an outstanding memory of the city.

I was not sure what to expect. There wasn't much to see of the castle itself, but the view is spectacular from the battlements. You can walk around the entire battlements for a 360 degree view of Naples and beyond. The most stunning view is...More

I'm not sure because it's a no working day in Italy, but I guess so. Opening hours from 8.30am to 7.30 pm but the ticket shop closes at 6.30.
