Visited in May 2012. Didn't get to see much of the inside. Mostly walked by the well preserved exterior with its columns and gardens. We were on a tour and some places you didn't get to go into too many rooms or other areas. Gardens were really nice to complement what the house would've looked like back then.

Just some way to the north from the Casa del Fauno is located this excellent example of aristocracy dwelling. That is renown house in old Pompeii, called The House of the Vettii. It has been rather late excavated, in the end of 19th century. And at that moment revealed a generous representation of richly decorated rooms and a plenty of... More

a wonderful example of a house of the gentry in Pompeii. The layout of the house and the fact that most of it is intact was wonderful.

Really stepping back in time to such an amazing placing. You can only imagine how beautiful this home once was. It's mind blowing to realize it's age.

when spending 3 hours walking around Pompeii I was ever so excited to finally getting their a place that i wanted to visit always. Unfortunatly I was left so disappointed. I wanted to do a self guided tour and they presented to have no more audio set and that i should do the full escorted tour. The result was that... More

This home is an amazing revival of the times of Pompeii. It was amazing to see how people lived and how the rich kept their home. It was an awesome experience.

Although the excavation and site is much more manage de than it was 40 years ago upon my first visit, and so much less was available to experience first hand, there is still reason for awe.

Entire section around it is blocked off, so you cannot get in. This was a significant portion of main areas to see, which is disappointing. Makes the tour very short, and much less worthwhile to take the trip all the way to Pompeii.

My 1-star rating goes to the management, not to the House of the Vettii itself as it was closed. In fact a large section of Reggio VI where it's located was fenced off for no apparent reason as is about 60-70% of the park and close to 80-85% of interesting sites similar to this one. It's a shame as was... More
