What a surprise to see this theatre. Nice to sit and take a spell there and take in the building of it. It was quite a hot day when we were there, so good place to sit and contemplate about what they were capable of building in the past.

Do not miss this site in Pompeii. It is in the theatre district, and is amazingly well preserved. You can walk all the way from the stage area to the top seats, and has excellent views of vesuvious

Be sure to duck into the Pink Floyd exhibit, a great day full of amazing history! You actually get to walk the original streets of doomed Pompeii!

A formidable size reconstructed theatre complex in Pompei. Probably quite sizable for the population of Pompeii before the Mt Vesuvius eruption. Configuration of the theatre and acoustic wise, the Greeks and Romans had it all thought out.

The size of the theatre is amazing. Parts are well preserved while other parts have been nicely reconstructed. When touring Pompeii, this is a good spot to stop, rest and people watch. If you visit Pompeii and opt for a guided tour, this is one of the stops you will make.

This is the one where Pink Floyd played a few years ago. Very atmospheric for a concert and it must have been inspiring for a modern day audience.

A feat to ancient sound engineering (and older than the Coliseum in Rome), our tour guide demonstrated how the voices of the actors on stage amplified so that all theater goers 2000-years ago could hear them from the front row to the upper seats.

It's a must when in Pompei to visit this nice spectacle theatre, very well reconstructed and also the little Odeon: the theatre is immense over 3000 places and they have spectacles in summertimes.

Probably not. . There is a marked spot in the center of the stage (marked by a small different colored marble stone) where the acoustic effects of the theater design can be personally experienced. When you stand on that spot and speak or sing the design creates an amazing surround-sound effect. The Greeks had it figured out!
