Niccolo, our guide, was waiting for us on the steps to the Vatican and from our first moment he made our tour of the Vatican museum and the Sistine chapel an unforgettable experience. He is a very pleasant, approachable man, so knowledgable and his explanations gave us a much deeper insight into the paintings and the work of the artists,... More

It took us 3 hours to go through the Vatican museum and the Sistine chapel. Our guide Tommaso was excellent and he knows his thighs. We had fun with jokes and fun stories. I totally recommend Tommaso

had a wonderful tour with Tommaso. He was very knowledgable and also easy to talk to about all aspects of the tour. I would highly recommend him. Felt he was a friend by the end of tour, he really knew his stuff about Romr.

We had such an enjoyable morning touring the Vatican. Our wonderful guide was incredibly knowledgable and passionate. It was the highlight of our weekend in Rome. Everything about the organisation, meeting point and contact was seamless. An absolute pleasure, if you are considering this, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

We booked last minute and Private Tours of Rome got right back to us and made it very smooth: We really needed Tomasso for this part of our Rome adventure!! His knowledge of the Vatican City was extensive and very interesting. We asked a million questions and he knew it all. I would try to book any tour in Rome... More

We booked two walking tours through Private Tour of Rome, the Colosseum, which includes and Palatine Hill and Forum, and the Vatican and St Peter's Basilica. Marta di Pasquale was our guide for both and she was simply superb. She is a licensed guide - like the blue badge guides in the U.K. - and really knows her stuff. Her... More

I could not have been more pleased with Cristiana our tour guide. She was very accommodating, knowledgeable and very passionate about the topic throughout the door. We had to an add last minute head count to our party and the private tour of Rome made was so accommodating. The tour even lasted longer than the three hour duration. I would... More

Outstanding!! We took the metro from Naples to Pompeii. Our tour guide, Antonio, met us there and then proceeded to the ruins. His English was impeccable. He was very thorough in his explanations giving so much more than just the facts. He was humorous and answered our many many questions. Highly recommend Private Tour of Rome and working with Daniela... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
