Way more than we expected. We planned to stay one hour, and instead enjoyed 4 hours between the catacombs and the Appian Way nearby. For the Catacombs itself, we had a guide named Nick who was just excellent. Very knowledgeable, with great answers to all...More

This turned out to be one of teh best underground experiences we have had this week in Rome. We waited about 30 minute to get an English-language tour. This was enough time to get an espresso at the cafe, a very expensive and not fabulous...More

First of all do not try walking from Colli Albani metro! On looking at the map, we thought we could simply walk across the 'park'. You can't. You can't get out of the other side of the 'park'. Anyway, once we found it, the catacombs...More

We took a cab to the Catacomb and had time before the tour to enjoy a cup of coffee. Our tour guide was from the mid west of the USA. He has lived in Rome for 20 years so his knowledge of the Catacomb and...More

Our guide immediately told us, "Christians were not hiding here." But don't let that deter you, follow the path downward and simply imagine this place 2,000 years ago. It can be quite large and also very small and is an interesting burial site of thousands.

If you happen to be visiting these Catacombs, do yourself a favor and stop by the coffee shop where the great Pierluigi will fix you the best caffè con panna in the whole of Rome!!

The catacomb is a nice place for visit, it is good for small children too. No dead body and not scary at all. But the guide tour is too quick and photographing is not allowed.

The best of Rome's many catacombs, many early Pope's and Christians buried beneatu the city in cold and dank passageways...worth a short visit with a guide to explain it all, good on a rainy day. Quaint church topside.

How to get here 1. At the immediate entrance of the Colosseo subway station, you will find a bus stop (to your right). Ignore this. 2. Cross at the traffic light and to your left, 50 metres down the road, you will find a bus...More

From memory, we took a bus too. It stops directly outside the catacombs. Only thing to factor in is the frequency- make sure you plan your trip around the return times. This is the definitely the cheapest option, but very... More
