Many people warned me about how touristy Rome was so to counter balance that, we decided to book a food tour in Testaccio, far away from other tourists. It was a fantastic idea. We got to see a side of Rome we would have never discovered by ourselves thanks to the The Taste of Testaccio Food Tour and our guide... More

My wife and I and our friends went on a food tour in Rome last night. It was a wonderful tour. Our tour guide Toni made the food and the area special. We would highly recommend the Eating Italy tour to all of our friends visiting Rome.

We took the Taste of Testaccio Food Tour. Our guide Eric was excellent. The tour was really well paced and we got to try a lot of different flavours, alongside learning more about the area. This tour is a great way to spend a few hours and see inside non-tourist shops, markets and restaurants. The tip on recognising quality gelato... More

Whilst staying in Florence we booked to experience 'The Real Taste of Florence' with Omar Aziz and enjoyed every minute of this fascinating four hour tour. Omar was both informative and charming and he guided us around a number of local shops to taste and experience the 'real side' of the city. This tour had many highlights including learning about... This was my wife and my first food tour and it could not have been a more pleasant experience. Dario was our guide. He was engaged, passionate and knowledgeable about the food and neighborhood. We had a great time and will certainly book another tour on our next vacation. I could not have been more pleased with the entire experience.

Our group of six were part of a larger group of ten during a much eating and a little walking tour of Trastevere, wonderfully guided by Sebastiana. The tour not only allowed us all to taste food that otherwise as visitors to Rome we were unlikely to try but also to learn about the history of Trastevere itself. Whilst the... More

We took the "Taste of Testaccio" food tour with Kate. All I can say is, make sure you do this if you visit Rome. We had a group of 10 and it was a brilliant day with great company, amazing food and Kate topped everything off with her knowledge, understanding and passion. I can't recommend this tour highly enough and... More

I did the Taste of Testaccio Food Tour with Kate who did a wonderful job. The tastings were authentic Italian food and gave a very good insight into this too little visited neighborhood. I loved the little historical stops as well. I particularly loved seeing the market and meeting the people behind the food.

We took the "The Taste of Testaccio Food Tour" with Kate and had a truly wonderful time. She is a great guide and really helped us understand Roman Cuisine. We're hoping to go to Amsterdam next year, we'll be booking their tour there as well

Marco was the perfect host; enthusiastic about Italian wine and food and eager to share his love of the subject with the attendees. The wine and food were all excellent, made all the better with Marco's expert descriptions and explanations. Highly recommended.

Staying in Testaccio

Neighbourhood Profile
Testaccio
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighbourhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
