Wow! Be ready to eat and eat well! Do not wait to sign up for this tour. My husband loved every minute of it, as did I. Francesco was our guide and was awesome! Very personable and full of pride and knowledge of this great neighborhood. You get to eat your way through some family-owned businesses who clearly take pride... More

We took the Saturday night dinner and wine pairing with sommelier Marco Lori. Marco is not just a mere sommelier, he has an advanced degree, and it shows in his enthusiasm for his subject. We tasted six wonderful wines with six delicious courses. Marco picked his wines with an eye (or palate) towards making the pairings meaningful. All the wines... More

We did this tour on our first evening in Rome. It was the best introduction to Rome. The food in each of the seven venues was delicious and our guide Lucca was friendly, fun and gave us loads of historical context to Rome. He told great stories and gave advice about being a visitor in Rome.

This was such a great mix of stops! We stopped at restaurants, a bakery, and a deli, all family owned, and all with fantastic foods to sample! It took about 3.5 hours, and we loved everything! We found a new favorite dish (burrata) and a fantastic new type of meat (porchetta I think). It was all great! Had wine at... More

We booked the Twilight Trastevere tour and The Taste of Testaccio tour. We had such a great time on both tours. It was such a neat way to experience the culture of Italy on our third trip to Rome. It also gave us a chance to explore parts of Rome that we hadn't been to yet. Our guides were very... More

A highlight of our trip to Rome. As part of a Rick Steves tour of Rome, we spent 3 hours with Lucca eating and drinking our way through Trastevere. Lucca was so charming, funny and engaging. He obviously has a wonderful relationship with the many shop owners we visited. Whatever we sampled was the best of its kind I'd ever... More

First the good. Our guide was expat from the US and he was very engaging, not only with us, but many of the people in the area. He's been at this a while. He got us all talking and sharing stories. It was definitely a fun aspect of the tour. The food only had a few highlights and too many... More

This is a must. We had an amazing time on the Trastevere Walking tour with Rogelio! We learned so much -- much more than we would have we ventured out on our own. We stopped several neighborhood gems in this hip Roman neighborhood and enjoyed fried artichokes, pork stew, fresh roman pizza, fresh pastries, Roman deli classics, pasta -- and... More

We had a ball on this tour. So much food and drink I couldn't eat or drink everything. Our guide Francesco was great fun and knew what he was talking about. The restaurants/bars/cafes were all amazing. Really enjoyed all the food and tried a few new things which was great. Learnt a few things along the way. Highly recommend this... More

We took the Wine and Food pairing Class with Marco. He was so knowledgeable, delightful and funny. The wines and food was outstanding, especially when he showed us how to pair our wine with certain foods. Definitely worth taking the class, I only wish we had taken it at the beginning of our trip so we knew more when we... More

Staying in Testaccio

Neighbourhood Profile
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighbourhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
