We visited this attraction in February. My 10 year old son and husband did the activity and I watched.from the side. When we arrived our taxi dropped us on the edge of the road (Via Appia Antica) and we were to walk down to the bottom to the Gladiator school. We didnt at first realise it was right at the... More

I took my two kids (ages 10 and 12) to this after reading some reviews online and even a Washington Post article talking about how good it was and because my kids were tired of seeing the archeological sites. What a disappointment! First off, the cost was nearly $100 per child and it was booked through Viator. When we arrived... More

The 'gladiator school' was certainly a highlight for my kids - and certainly for me too... The tour of the 'museum' was a delight : and the guides certainly knew their history : and more importantly knew how to make it interesting and delightful for the kids ! Yuri our gladiatorial instructor : and he started out being the typical... More

We watched the Gruppo Storico Romano perform on March 15, 2016. The Ides of March was told entirely in Italian, and neither I nor my students understand the language, but there was no mistaking the action. The actors presented the story of Caesar and his death is a visual and visceral play... and only a few steps from the site... More

This place has consistently good reviews and they are well deserved. Our children really enjoyed this, and the guided "tour" of their small museum was simple but really very interesting. This was one of the more memorable events of our recent trip to Rome.

This was a birthday gift from my wife on our honeymoon and this was the best thing we did in Italy. Hands down the highlight on our honeymoon!. Marco was so informative about Gladiator history and the history of Rome but the true value is his ability to get you to become a gladiator in the time you visit his... More

My son attended the Gladiator school with instructors Peter and Hermes and it was the highlight of his trip. Initially, we had a difficult time making arrangements as the concierge at our hotel was unable to reach Gruppo Storico Romano via their office number (although it might say more about our concierge and wanting to use the house tour operator).... I have been a Latin teacher for 15 years, bringing my students to Rome for 12. This was my favorite experience in that time. Ulfgar, our lanista, was the perfect gladiatoral trainer. Charisma and toughness personified! You might think that this type of activity could be cheesy or silly, but our kids had the time of their lives. As a... More

Our trainer was Ulfgar - you couldn't wish for a gladiator bigger or more scary! First he took us into the museum and explained about gladiators and their training. He was informative but also really engaging and entertaining - much better than our professional guide at the Colisuem. All the participants then got changed and went to the training arena,... More
