St. Peter's Square is a plaza in from of St. Peter's Basilica. I've known St. Peter's Square from television filled with people listening to the Pope speaking from the balcony. You never realize how big it actually is until you are there. It is unbelievable! It is quite fascinating how you can be in the Vatican with one foot while... More

Yes, this is "yet another square", and Rome has plenty of them, but still, it is an important, and also very impressive place, and it is well worth taking some time to see it, even if you don't want to spend hours in line to get into the museums etc. Just the scale of St. Peter's Square is amazing -... Go and soak it all up...see the Vatican guards in their unique uniforms parading through the square and try and go back late in the evening to see the lighting and experience the atmosphere in the dark.

A masterpiece of a phenomenal square designed by Gian Lorzenzo Bernini. You have to see it from the top of the basilica to appreciate the grandness and stunning design. It is especially mesmerizing at night when the basilica and surrounding area is lit up. A real wow moment.

Loved this square! It is so massive I felt how vulnerable we all are. Make sure to have a good audio tour with you in order to lear about little details. Wished we had visited while The Pope was celebrating mass.

Located directly in front of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City. This plaza is so beautiful and tranquil I could literally sit here, in one spot, all day...just basking in solitude. Also a great place to people watch, sunbathe and picnic. Pictures are a must! I mean who wouldn't want to capture all of this stellar architecture and monumental... More

If you are going to visit go early, as it gets busy. The square is free and you can walk around but, when it's crowded it's busy. Biggest pain is walking up when everyone try's to sell you a tour or selfie stick if it's sunny or umbrella if it's raining.

Magnificent and full of people. Long lines of those going to the Basilica might spoil the impression but it is always like that every time I come here.

St. Peter's Square is a must see! Even if you do not have the time to tour the Vatican, at least savor some time in this Iconic square. Memories will flow into your mind whenever the Vatican is a news item. And you were there!!!

St Peter's square is about 60 minutes walk from the main bus station (Termini) and is one of the more remarkable places in Rome. There are amazing statues of all saints at the top of each pillar. Unmissable
