The church is magnificient as almoust all other in Italy. It has cool 3D ilusionistic floor. The monastery is a good substitution for The Charterhouse of Parma from Stendhal's novel, which is closed as I was told.

If you visit Parma it is worth junking round the side of the cathedral to see San Giovanni Evangelista. Attractive from both outside and in, it is a peaceful contract to the cathedral.

If you are in Parma and see the cathedral you can stop by and check out this church as well. It is not as ornately decorated as the cathedral, but it is beautiful in its own way.

Worth the visit to admire the beautiful columns and detailed capitals. Admire all 3 buildings in the Piazza, the duomo, the beautiful Baptistry and the Camponile. Inside the Duomo re paintings and decorations from 1178- 1498 +. Remember to stop to admire the marvellous details of the main front doors.

there is no entrance fee to this church, located just at the backside of the cathedral, but you need some 1€ coins to get light on the fresco paintings, as else you only look at dark walls... the fresco are worth the few coins.

It was a very hot day in Parma when we visited, and we had to wait till they open. But it was worth. This is a beautiful church with a Coreggio painting on the cupola.

I was expecting more about this sight, but on the spot the doors were closed and could not even enter the library which was mentioned to contain a large and priceless amount of old books. The inner yards were only to be seen which was a pity. Took couple of pictures of them even though they were not in a... More

It was tranquil and quiet. A look into the past. Really neat! We enjoyed the long corridors all to ourselves.

This Baroque edifice stands out against the Renaissance style of the adjoining Benedictine cloisters. The Correggio fresco cycle around the dome is a masterful example of optical illusion.
