Trieste has so much history. This was a great experience for us. The hike up and exploring the old steps and streets was gorgeous. The kids enjoyed seeing all the beauty. Go on a nice sunny day for beautiful photos at the top.

The Castello San Giusto is a steep uphill walk from the center of Trieste and worth every step. You are surrounded by history going back to Roman times, a history that includes the medieval Castello as well as emotionally moving plaques and memorials to those who fought and died in both the First and Second World War. We walked the... More

Went for a walk around the castle and museum on our first day of Trieste. This holds significance to me in that I wear a gold medallion given to me 60 years ago by my grandparents! We visited in November so not in the tourist season; not sure of the impact on price (less than 20 Euros for three of... More

This is a pleasing castle overlooking Trieste. Quite a hike to get here from downtown, but you will be rewarded with some decent views which makes there effort worthwhile. The interior of the castle really isn't anything particularly special.

We went there to take some pictures on 10 Nov. The Cathedral looked closed. As it was getting dark, we arrived there by Bus 24, we left with the same bus a while later. Bus 24's two terminals, one at Train Station, the other at the Cathedral. Hmm.... only if the Cathedral is opened, we got to enter... perhaps that... More

On a hill overlooking the city, the castle is quite austere. From the ramparts there are lovely views of the city. The museum includes the Chapel of St George and an interesting collection of ola weapons and armour.. Take Bus 24 to the castle and then walk back down into the city.

Its a beautiful mountaintop view! Instead of taking a right turn once you enter area over drawbridge, walk straight to the stairs to right of big bell and statue and go to terrace. You will have the best of views there plus for those who indulge a small bar. Once you have taken in those views continue around to right... More

This is a big fortress from the middle age. There are a lot to see, but the most interesting and nice is the view on the city from its walls. Don't miss the cathedral!
