Castello Doria is the main castle located in the upper part of Vernazza, one of the five towns in Cinque Terre National Park, in the North of Italy. In fact, it is a very good upper point from where you can see very nice views of the town, the port (wonderful!) and the sea. Also, you can visit the remains of this fortress and see the views in all directions. If you visit it, you need go up in the old town and you can see some very beautiful streets. Very good. (See also Vernazza and Parco Nazionale Cinque Terre)

Follow the stairs from the center of town all the way up, keep going! The views are definitely worth it. Entrance costs 2 euros but you get truly panoramic views.

The food (inexpensive) is only exceeded by the setting. When we finished the waiter informed us they 'don't take credit cards'. "What ? What do we do ?" 'You go see Momma.' Momma......who is doing all of the bills with a pen paper......tells me..."No problem. You come back tomorrow. And before you leave have some desert and lemoncello'..... on the house. Good luck finding that at home !

Interesting but not worth the effort or the fee. Not much to see that is unique. Much better views from the trails

This is well worth the effort to climb up to the top of the hill. The whole site is very interesting and the views are just amazing. Do not forget your camera!
