Let's be honest, it's easy to get a bit 'duomoed out' in Italy isn't it! All that stunning art and architecture starts to blur after a while, and then there's the religious nuttiness and sheer hypocrisy of the whole catholicism thing to feel conflicted about!...More

Lovely Old Cathedral in the heart of Como. It is absolutely huge with a beautiful ornate facade with high green topped domes. The entrance arch is particularly beautiful. Inside is cavernous with high vaulted ceilings and beautiful windows. The altar is especially imoressive and the...More

This was the first church my wife had visited in Italy and she was blown away with the the beauty and shear size of this Duomo. In the bright sun the white exterior looked exquisite and the light made all the interior art and stained...More

It is the largest cathedral in Italy. The Gothic cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete. It is rebuilt as duomo when the fire broke out. The statue on the top was the size of a large man, though they all looked like dolls from...More

Dominant in Como is the Cathedral. Built in Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles and wonderfully brought together. The church took 350 years to complete and the interior is full of works of art including tapestries.

Well worth the visit to this historic building. Crowds were not bad, and the place is well maintained.

Our visit came at the end of a river cruise up the Rhine, where we had toured at least one church nearly every day. This one is very nice, but I didn't see anything special about it.

The exterior is deceiving. The Duomo is beautiful on the inside with many beautiful features and artworks. Well worth the visit.

The tourist entrance is used when the Duomo is in Service so non-participating guests will not interrupt the religious program.
