We walked the promenade on the day we arrived in Merano, and it helped shape our impressions of Merano as a lovely place to stay. We particularly loved the end near the river and had a couple of lovely strolls while here.

Starting from a point up towards the famous gardens the walk starts in a quiet suburb and gradually feeds out into the countryside with far ranging high level views of orchards, vineyards and castles. Either side of the path are rock gardens fed by irrigation...More

Merano is great; stay by the river & you have many attractive easy walks to hand, such as the Tappeiner weg. I recommend a wonderful circuit; first walk along the river 10-15 mins (heading upstream) to the start of the Tappeiner weg. Follow the full...More

A flat and easy path leaving right from the center of town. In 40 minutes you're up to a nice view. Keep going and you can go higher and higher. Incredibly pleasant and easy walk. A nice restaurant about 30 minutes into the walk.

It is about a 40 m climb from the city center to reach the path but the Tappeiner weg itself is flat without height differences. The view is great and there are plenty occasions to have a pause for a cup of coffee or something...More

High above the town, the promenade affords great vistas of Merano and the valley, and the surrounding mountains. Cafes and points of interest are all along the route, which is well maintained and flat for the most part (after getting up there!) Really not to...More

Sweeping views of Merano at every corner which change every step, enough restaurant/cafés on the way and at either end to reward you, this is an hour walk without effort (it is flat once you reach it) above the town that is memorable. Not to...More
