Merano is an absolutely beautiful town, situated about 20kms from the the capital city of Bolzano it is a must see place to visit. The Centro Storico (Historical centre ) with its covered arch passageways full of interesting shops and cafes. Great shopping in the centre. The Thermal Springs are situated right in the centre of the town with convenient... More

Located in the entrance to the Dolomite mountains this area was originally Austrian territory that was conquered by Italy during WW1. This picturesque city looks disappointing from the highway but as you get closer to the center you understand its no ordinary city. The historic city center feels like a trip to another country - Bavarian germany or Austria. And... More

There is a .lot to explore in this area, not just the Centro storico which is pretty. Lots of places to drink and eat or just watch the world go by. The walks along the river, Summer and Winer walks are interesting . There is a lovely warm ambience to this town. Follow the signs to some of the longer... More

Quiet town, the air is particularly good, very casual stroll, especially the famous hot springs nearby, I went to feel great, beautiful scenery here, the river has snow-capped mountains, like everything here, very much here

Great Christmas Market along the river starting from the centro storico tower and southwest. Excellent shopping areas, good restaurants, and Castello Principesco.

Great town centre with something for everybody. Colonnades in one of the main shopping streets are good in wet weather. Everything is easily accessible due to the compact nature of Merano, exceptions are the co-located bus and train stations. Much of its medieval origins, layout wise, have been retained, with many alcoves and alleys waiting to be explored. Good selection of shops, bars and... More

December is really the time to go in order to enjoy all the lights, the ice skating, dining in Christmas tree ornaments and just the overall holiday spirit.
