An infinite snowy area that begins at 1,524 metres, in Valtournenche, embraces Breuil-Cervinia, rises up to 3,480 metres of Plateau Rosà, touches the 4,000 m peak of Piccolo Cervino, climbes up to 4,478 m to the top of the Cervino. An area where the infinite snow continues on the Swiss side to Zermatt. An area where the snow is the setting of sport, holidays and fun. The tourism vocation of Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche had it’s beginning more than two hundred years ago. Excursionists and academics were the pioneers of a tourism that united sport, scientific study and intellectual exchange. In 1936, a new Breuil-Cervinia was created. The construction of the first cable car was a cutting-edge work of engineering excellence. The Hotel Gran Baita situated at the foot of the slopes, with the cable car departure station annexed to it, anticipates by over half a century the concept of an integral complex for skiing. Breuil-Cervinia became the Queen of the snow. From sport to cinema, politics and commerce, those who count meet here. Innovation, in Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche, is the key word. New ways to practice sport, new ways to enjoy a holiday, new services to allow more free time. The technology is not limited to the rapid lift systems, but also to the territorial fibre optic network that allows the information to be transmitted in real time. Time and space dimensions have changed thanks to the e-skipass, to the keycard and to the hotel reservation system via the internet. 350 thousands web navigators every month visiting the site to check out the webcams, weather reports, lift status and snow conditions. In Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche, collaboration between the operators in the area guarantees guests quality and state of the art solutions.

Excellent, pretty, attractive high resort. Because of its height it is often windy which can close the upper lifts. This causes over crowding on the little bottom piste. With a bit more planning this problem could be minimised. Some alternative low pistes could be created but even better would be a shuttle bus to Valtournenche in order to use those... More

Nice wide pistes mostly above tree line to suit all abilities ; the trek across to Zermatt needs careful planning as the weather on the tops can be a bit windy; we lost 2 days to the wind this year it blew a gale even in Cervinia; probably due to the proximity of the Matterhorn and the surrounding topography which... Excellent pistes and some interesting runs despite being largely above the tree line. Signage not as helpful as French resorts and piste markers do not indicate progress down a run but that apart there is plenty to occupy intermediate skiers for a week especially if the links to Zermatt are open. Strong winds can result in lift closures so it... More

Links to Zermatt closed all 4 days we were there. Don't buy an area pass for your whole trip, just upgrade on the couple of days you want to go. All the slopes are Very high so susceptible to closure due to wind.

There is a broad range of ski options in Cervinia and Valtournenche. You do need to chose your dates carefully however. When it's windy they cut off access to Zermatt and a lot of lifts in Cervinia are closed. Valtournenche is a good alternative but you will need to bus there as the pass from Cervinia will also be closed... More

Brilliant ski area, not busy at Christmas /new year, good lifts, slopes well looked after even though it hadn't snowed for a month.

Lots of easy blue and red kilometres to cruise in theory- but - the WIND blows (!) the theory away! Out of four days in resort only two low lifts were operating half the time, with a maximum of four lifts on one day. This made for big queues and repetitive skiing on the same crowded pistes. This happens a... More

We spent new years eve in Cervinia. The place is magnificent. Full of nice restaurants, skiing places, tea saloons...the people are friendly and the staff is always well educated and perfectly trained. The best ski instructor of the skiing school (after we tried several) was Erjon Tola who is a proffesional skier. We will definitely return.

We've just returned from Cervinia having had a very successful family ski holiday. We stayed up in Cielo Alto about a kilometer from the centre. It was very busy for cars and parking so best find a place within walking distance of the ski lifts or use the very regular buses into the centre. We found the locals really lovely... More
