Started tin the 13th Century, the basilica is a bit of an architectural mishmash and while an imposing but uninspiring edifice from the outside, its magnificence is revealed once you enter. A significant pilgrimage destination, it is the resting place of St Anthony and the interior, the frescos and the relics make for an interesting visit.

I am not religious but while there I certainly felt a spiritual connection while doing the walk around the basilica. The tomb and relics are a must see regardless of religion. Of course the art and architecture is amazing.

I think it is a place you visit as a tourist. If someone is searching a peaceful place of prayer, this is not, indeed...

Neither of us are particularly religious but St Anthony moved us. So much so, my husband wanted to return again the next day. St Anthony is the patron of lost souls and my husband, who lost his father when he was very young, was moved to tears at our second visit to St Anthony's tomb. This Basilica will remain a... More

Saint Anthony, who helps you find lost things again. In his honor this agglomeration of sacred buildings was built. Hidden behind the 3rd court is a museum exposing ex-voto paintings: people miraculously saved by Saint Anthony during an accident had a painting painted of the event. Some hilarious details.

Visited Padua on a trip to Venice to see a friend and this was one of the sights that she showed me. The building is beautiful and there is so much to see and admire. It is free entry and it is worth setting some time aside in your day to pay your respects. The relics of St Anthony are... More

This 13th c.basilica has amazing works of various art forms mostly of the 15th and 16th centuries. It is free and worth some time-maybe the best attraction in Padua.

I love popping in here for half an hour or so and looking at a different part of the building. So much to admire. It's vast, with amazing architecture and the marble freezes of St Anthony's miracles around his tomb are stunningly detailed. It can be busy with coach groups of pilgrims coming to pay homage but it's so big... More

This church is world famous for its miracles. It also has the relics of St,Anthony.Which is of immense value to Catholics. A beautiful church, old but well maintained. Lovely old architecture. A calm & serene place. Its worth while for Non Christians & Non Catholics to visit for its artistic beauty.
