Piazza del Santo takes place in historical Padua, there is a famous basilica di Sant'Antonio, world famous pilgrimage place, a monument of Gattamelata, a lot of bars, restaurants and souvenir shops around.

A lovely square, with a big fountain in the centre, there truly isn't anywhere to sit or to take in the sights, but its nice to stroll though, as it is pleasant. There was a dog swimming in the fountain when I went, thus pets should be welcome throughout! There are some shops as well where I purchased a lovely... More

The Piazza del Santo is the square in front and around the Basilica of St. Anthony of Padua. The place is dedicated to welcome the faithful who come in pilgrimage to the church and most days, it is full of people from all over the world. However, it is also a center of daily life for locals, who meet in... More

The Piazza is not really of notable size and isn't a square at all. This is really the space infront of the Basilica of Sant Antonio and to be honest has many stalls selling tourist goods like church related items, postcards, fridge magnets and souvenir booklets etc. The Piazza is totally dominated by the domed Basilica that completely takes all... Just people and vendors that have to be endured to enter the basilica. If you are lucky enough the crowds will be light for a good photo of the facade.

There are many better piazzas to sit in or explore or people watch. This is mostly an intersection for cars, bikes, and pedestrians. Locals don't stop here to consider Del Santo's unfinished facade, nor should you. It is just on one's way to other places.

The Saint Antoine's church is probably one of the most attractive and beautiful churches in Italy. It's style is a typical mixture of romanic, plus some hints of gothic here and there. Completely different from Milan gothic Dome, just to say, but the same huge dimension. I spent hours inside. The paintingsame and inner chiostro are gorgeous. Definitely it has... More

Nice open space by the basilica. Carts selling souvenirs are along the road side where you can buy a candle to take into the basilica and donate for their use. There are several nice eateries around the piazza, all look pretty similar, cheapish sort of eats but good places to enjoy the view.

The square is a simple space, surrounding a majestic structure. Patronize one of the cafés or pastry shops or visit the souvenir shops on the periphery. The taxi stand is on the East side. The piazza can be reached from four different directions. Dozens of souvenir stands occupy the front, few on the sides and back.

There is nothing special about the square, just people walking around and same trying to sell souvenirs, we had to walk through it to get to the Basilica, visited last year
