Beautiful art. Mauro did an awesome job with his demonstrations and instructions on how to make the glass. I am just a tad bit disappointed I couldn't make a glass sculpture! But all in all a good trip.

I asked you if you had 5/6 hours available to see me perform a sculpture, but unfortunately You only devoted to me for an hour, and.......you didn't even buy anything ... It means you will definitely do it on your next trip I expect you... Mauro More

It is a huge chance to meet a master Venetian glassmaker benefiting from hundreds of years of tradition. Mauro welcomed us warmly, demonstrated his know-how and ... recommended good typical restaurants! Better make an appointment: he is very busy and closes sometime his workshop to concentrate on his work...

For my teenage son and me, visiting with Mauro Vianello was a real treat and a high point of our stay in Venice. The walk to his studio in a quiet neighborhood was an enjoyable departure from the tourist filled areas. In his studio Mauro not only demonstrated his glass expertise but also explained much to us about Murano and... More

We only had a day and a half in Venice and really wanted to watch a glass blowing demonstration. Not wanting to go all the way to Murano, I looked online for some suggestions and came across Mauro and his workshop. I emailed him and got an immediate response! He didn't require any deposit or guarantee we would show up... More

It was an absolute privilege to be able to watch one of Venice's finest craftsmen create a blown glass shell. Maestro Vianello Mauro was extremely welcoming and friendly, explaining the process as he worked and inviting my questions. The shell developed as if by magic, such is the nature of his skill. Although there are countless glass shops in Venice,... More

There are glass shops everywhere in Venice. But this is by far the best one. Mauro travels around the world making glass and you can book a private show to watch him for only 25 Euros. My girlfriend and I were amazed at how he takes a simple rod and is able to craft it into these beautiful shapes (he... More

Mauro, the owner, is a charming man whose skill with glass is boundless. From clown fish hiding in anemone to seashells, his pieces are fantastically lifelike and really true works of art. The shop is also Mauro's workshop so you can sometimes see him creating these glass masterpieces which is a very special experience. Somewhere everyone must visit whilst they... More

I stopped by Mauro's studio after being recommended by a friend to do so. What an amazing experience! Mauro was friendly and interesting, and for €25, I watched him make two stunning pieces of art. He chatted to me the whole time and I learned so much. After the first piece, I asked him about blown glass and instead of... More

Our family of four (son aged 10, daughter aged 8) arranged a visit with Mauro last weekend, during our few days in Venice. Every minute and every penny we spent in his studio was well-spent. We arrived at 11 AM and spent two hours talking with Mauro in his shop and watching him work. He was delightful, responsive and attentive... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
