This is a great neighborhood osteria with a nice mix of tourists and locals. Very laid back feel with great wine and food. They have a good selection of Veneto wines and a nice cross-section from the rest of Italy. The servers were very friendly and happy to tell us more about the wines. They let us try a number... Opposite a small footbridge (so my girlfriend could people watch) & a great place to stop for a few drinks/snacks. Really friendly staff. We were here on a Saturday late afternoon and there was a lively atmosphere.

Had a lovely experience here last night, in this lovely wine bar just off the Santa Maria square. Helpful with the wine choices and so so friendly, the bar snacks are good too; thinly sliced prosciutto on fresh bread with lovely fresh fat olives for €1.50. Wine was so reasonable from €3.50 to €5.50 (for a large glass) and they... More

Once again, one of our first stops was for a spritz at what was our favorite bar on our last visit. It still is our favorite bar!!! A great spot to rest your tired feet and watch people go by and see the same people from last time.

We found this small but perfectly formed and friendly bar on our walks around Dorsoduro, which is where we stayed. The bar is on the main route upto Campo San Margherita and directly opposite ponte dei pugni and the famous fruit and veg barge. Grabbing stools in the window watching 'real life' go on around us here was a daily... More

For two weeks in Venice the bar became our "local". We would stop every day for a pickup / reviver "spritz" and sputini. Friendly people behind the bar, friendly locals, fresh food and well priced drinks - what more could we ask??

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
