Learn to row like a Venetian-standing, facing forward, just like the gondoliers-in a beautiful, traditional Venetian all-wood gondolina batella coda di gambero. See Venice from a unique, authentic perspective in this unique outing: you can't row Venice if you haven't rowed Venice.

Not only was it perfectly sunny and crystal clear outside, but our guide, Anna, was delightful in every way. She was endlessly patient with our two sons and gave them great opportunity take risks and succeed. She sang as we rowed, and even took us into the Lagoon so that our sons could try out steering. You could pay 80... More

I would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Venice. The staff were so welcoming, friendly and most importantly, empathetic to our lack of skill and talent. I'm so glad we chose to do this experience instead of paying for the traditional gondola ride. This is a must do.

Visiting Italy in winter, December 2016 was an amazing decision for me and my husband. Gondola Ride was listed as a 'must try' in Venice. The romantic 20 min ride will cost almost 100 Euros and even more! We decided to take rowing lessons from 'Row Venice'. Sofia, our guide was amazing and she couldn't be anymore kind and sweet.... We were very tempted to pay 90 Euros for a 30 minute Gondola ride, but wanted something different as we considered the tourist Gondalos a bit of an over-expensive cliche (and are simply everywhere!). We stumbled across Row Venice and thought it sounded much more fun and better value for money - an inspired decision! We were taught the art... More

We had a great time with Ann, learning to row and enjoying some local treats. Very highly recommended. Instead of a gondola, try this experience - you won't be disappointed. Thanks very much!!

We will never forget this - the sensitive tutoring, the delicious onboard flask of spiced tea, learning the calls of the Gondoliers and then finding ourselves swept up in the thrill of physically rowing down the Grand Canal. As if that wasn't enough, we were then treated to the most delicious wine ever and tasty traditional cichetti. You really can't... More

Having already enjoyed an amazing experience with Row Venice on a previous trip to Venice, I booked for six family members (two boats) in January. Naturally prior doubts were expressed about doing this activity in the depths of winter, but the sun shone, the sky was a brilliant blue and the cold was quickly overcome by physical exertion. Everyone, aged... More

Who wants to sit in a Gondola with a possible moody/ rude man rowing when you can do it yourself under the smile and friendliness of Caroline. Well, no regrets.... highlight of the weekend, saw a fantastic sunset over Venice from out in the lagoon while trying, in stitches of laughter, to stop going around in circles....

My Mum and I booked a last minute tour with Row Venice on the 16th of Jan - my Mum wanted to do a gondola ride, but after a little research online, and passing over every canal and having a Gondolier half-heartedly ask if we want a gondola ride, I persuaded her to do the row Venice tour - we... Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
