We had a hard time finding the hotel for the first time given the streets of Venice, but once we found it, everything was great. The breakfast buffet is the best and our rooms we're spacious. A word of caution for handicapped travelers: be prepared to climb stairs. Other than that the workout is worth it!

The rooms were great and the service excellent. Breakfast was spectacular and the palace beautiful. Be advised that you will have to be able to climb steps since everything is two or three stories high. Also, you will need a good map or directions to get there since the location is tricky. Besides that I would return anytime.

I was invited to a party in the palazzo to celebrate the inauguration of the Biennale di Archittura. A very elegant setting. Got a thrill looking out the windows over the canal grande. Felt like a nobildonna Veneziana walking up the staircase. Another world... .

My Husband and I attended the Mascheranda ball during carnival. Beautiful palace, we arrived via taxi (€70) from our hotel. The welcome was phenomenal, the food average, but we didn't attend the ball for the food. Open bar through the evening. If you pay to sit in the main floor you'll be able to view the singers/musicians during dinner. Otherwise... More

Stayed in apartments in the palace. Long narrow alley to access the garden, courtyard and stunning apartment. Watching the moon rise over the Grand Canal from the watergate, a glass of wine and my friend beside me. Awesome.

I went for the Mascheranda ball in February. It is lovely place to visit and amazing once inside. There are two ways to visit by boat (expensive) or by foot back entrance. The latter is hidden away down a back alley and as I was going to the after party late at night it's not really ideal. Luckily my hotel... More

Went as part of a 'package' with Great Rail Journeys but absolutely amazing. Water taxi to the palace, a hairy walk up the gangplank into the vestibule. A warm welcome then up to the restaurant through wonderful baroque architecture. We ate in a lovely room with huge candelabra etc. Starters of seafood risotto (having had appetisers in the lounge area... More

There are gems everywhere in Venice, but none hold a spark to this most delicate, the finest confetti of gothic palaces that line the Sumo of canals. This pile of beauty can be instantly picked out for its boldness and pleasurable lines. The interior is baroque which includes a staircase that Disney would have envied with double flight of steps... We had a big business dinner here on a night when there was no breeze, about 30C, and no airconditioning , we were dehydrating quicker than wine could replenish our systems ! This is a lovely, historic building with outstanding architecture, on a cooler night i am sure i would have enjoyed it more.

Difficult to stand out amongst all the splendor and beauty to be found on the banks of the Canal Grande, but this magnificent palace simply stands out: a monument of extreme elegance and time and time again a joy to look at, with its fine gothic ornaments and striking contrast between the water and the colour rose of its facade.

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
