Designed by Baldassare Longhena in 1631-83, the church's façade is embellished with 125 statues, which form a sharp contrast to the somber interior.

Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute is a bit 'out of the way' as it sits at the far end of Dorsoduro and is a bit hard to get to easily, depending of course, which way you head there. It is architecturally magnificent and merits a...More

This Basilica is worth passing by it, as you are making your way from the Guggenheim to the Punta della Dogana. It is huge impressive building with fine architecture and design. Inside there's very little of the art you regularly see in the more known...More

We didn't physically visit this stunning Church, more passing by as we enjoyed a Gondola ride along a part of the Grand Canal. Absolutely beautiful place that i wish we had made the effort to see the inside too.

The chapel is circular (octagonal?) with amazing stations all the way around the outside. Off the beaten path but well worth the visit, especially since the Peggy Guggenheim museum is only a few blocks away. St. Mark's square is just across the lagoon

This church is stunning and beautiful on the outside and the interior is just as lovely. There are so many discoveries while you walk through the amazing building.

I loved this area, not as crowded and super great view. I really enjoyed out time spent inside and mostly outside the Basicilia steps.

Santa Maria della Salute is undoubtedly one of the most important churches in town. Designed by architect Baldassare Peruzzi, it stands as a real Baroque landmark at Venice.

This is one of many free churches in and around Venice. It's not a typical church structure as it is round, but it is very much worth the time to see.

Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with
street artists, students, painters, sculptors,
restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and
heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's
collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for
evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries
cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica
buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob
