My name's Luisella Romeo and I am a registered tourist guide in Venice. I run SeeVenice and offer private and semi-private tours in Venice and to the islands in the Venetian lagoon such as Murano, Burano and Torcello. You can also book walking tours in the city, both orientation tours and itineraries along the off-the-beaten paths. Boat tours with private watertaxi along the canals and guided tours to all museums and churches are also included as well as to temporary art exhibitions.

Luisella is one of the top ranked guides for Venice, and rightly so. From the first email I sent her, months before our visit, our experience with her has been nothing short of stellar. Extremely responsive and very friendly, she was happy to offer suggestions and tailor our tour to suit our schedule and interests. She was also more than... More

Luisella’s Venice! That’s how we felt. It was our first trip to Venice and Luisella shared the love of her unique and marvelous city. She introduced us to the history, extraordinary culture and curiosities of Venice. She guided us away from crowds to the quaint and quiet streets along the canals, giving us a chance to peacefully marvel at our... More

I did not have long to spend in Venice, so I wanted to maximize my time in the city and have someone else do the thinking for me! Booked a tour with Luisella and would definitely recommend her. I gave her some of my interests and in 3 hours we covered a lot of ground -- definitely more than I... More

We met Luisella at a predetermined location. Luisella was on time and took us on a two hour tour around St Marco square area. Our college age children were with us and Luisella was so engaging, entertaining, and enthusiastic, everyone enjoyed the tour. We would highly recommend Luisella and cannot say enough positive things. We will definitely use Luisella again.

Thank you so much for this review!!! It really pushes me to continue with more passion what I started many years ago. Please make sure you come back to Venice to see more together, if not just to enjoy a cup of coffee or some gelato :) Warmly, Luisella More

Luisella was easily among the top guides we have ever had. She was charming, knowledgeable and lively and kept my teenage son totally engaged. She brought the Doge's Palace and St. Mark's to life. Do a tour with her. You will not regret it. We will be sure to use Luisella on our next visit to Venice. Bravo!

Grazie for this great review! You were all so interested in the history of Venice that it was a real pleasure showing you the Doge's palace and St Mark's basilica! I hope you will be back soon! Warmly, Luisella More

We spent 2 fantastic days with Luisella in November. She obviously loves her city and her passion for it shows. She has a deep knowledge of the city's history, and when she tells a story of what happened in the 15th or 16th century, you would swear she was there in person! We saw all the main tourist sights, but... More

Since this was our third visit to Venice, we wanted to absorb more art/history. We arranged to visit Ca' Rezzonico with Luisella. She is a delight to be with, very knowledgeable and passionate about Venice. We enjoyed every minute and learned a bit, too! Roaming around any museum whether it be in Venice, Florence, Rome or NYC by yourself ,... More

What a pleasure to read this review! The museum of Ca' Rezzonico is one of the most beautiful places in Venice and yet still not too well known. Rich in art of the 18th century --just the Canalettos are amazing-- but also furniture, porcelain and several objects (thinking of the glassware), chandeliers and mirrors this palace already enthralls everyone with... We booked a walking tour with Luisella during our recent stay in Venice. We chose to ask her to take us to the lesser known districts of Venice and were not disappointed! Luisella's enthusiasm and love for her native city shines through, and she is a natural communicator so a tour with her is a real treat. We were pleased to... More

Thank you so much for choosing a hidden Venice tour :) I love the area we explored: Dorsoduro is indeed a quiet, nicely taken care of district, where you can experience the excellence of our crafts (making gondolas, oars, but also glass jewels and beads, masks...), interesting modern art galleries and the lively atmosphere of the University area. Thank you... More

My friend booked two tours with Luisella for our weekend stay in Venice. She met us promptly each morning at our hotel and off we went for some magical tours of the city. Dear Heather, thank you, such a lovely time together and yes, away from the crowded areas, as I believe everyone visiting Venice deserves to enjoy the authentic city and not just its postcards :) Looking forward to your next visit, hopefully soon! Warmly, Luisella More

Luisella was absolutely wonderful! Her knowledge of history made for such an informative tour of the Doge's Palace. Add to that her fantastic personality...she made learning about the political history of Venice so much FUN! All four of us were spellbound by Luisella! Our only regret was that we waited too late and couldn't book another tour with her. If... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
