Traditionally said to be the oldest church in Venice - an inscription on the left-hand pillar in the chancel says 421. Legend goes even further and claims that the church was consecrated at noon on the 21st March 421, this being the date that the...More

Once I saw the sign in this majestic old Church, I had to scramble in. Lovely old collection of instruments in a small church with plenty of character and its own art. It was nice to get away from the crowds and take in both...More

Came here to marvel at this wonderful old church, consecrated in 421 AD. Many tourists will miss this as they cross the Rialto Bridge and head for the fruit and produce market in the square immediately in front of it. It also houses a magnificent...More

This church is supposedly the oldest church in the city, dating from 421, but documents are lacking to substantiate this claim. It is located in the sestiere San Polo not far from Ponte di Rialto. It is noted for the large 15th century clock above...More

Old church and little bit sunken of turistic tourism. Entry is for free and you can find in there periodic music instruments. Its interesting but its not something you have to see! But i recommend it!

Liked this better than st Mark's as not so touristy and quietly impressive. Great place to sit and think and admire the artefacts.

Other than the clock there isn't much to recommend about this rather simple church. But it IS in Venice and that makes almost everything worth sampling, once.

Not far from the Rialto bridge and worth a look inside. Interesting large clock on the outside wall that dominates the square. Inside, the small church there is an interesting collection of violins and associated stuff. I'm not usually drawn to such exhibits but did find...More

The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the
Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six
sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest
neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the
markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops
display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San
Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi)
stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San
