According to the (British) AA guide to Venice, this is in the top 3 places to visit. The entrance fee wasn't overly steep, but I rather expected more. We arrived very late afternoon, but early enough to enjoy a leisurely stroll around. I rather enjoyed...More

There is some wonderful art work here, perhaps the most impressive being the mosaic courtyard with its wellhead, beautifully designed.

I really liked this museum for three reasons. One you can get surprisingly close to 500 year old works of art. Two some of the tapestry figures are seen in paintings dating 400 years back. Three the hall underneath is interesting. Then the 2 Euro...More

We saw an exhibit of carpets from their collection and I was amazed at how well preserved they were. They had a short film to introduce you and lots of different carpets from all over. The house itself was interesting. This is definitely worth stopping...More

From the outside. Had to walk a lot to find the door only to find out it was closed. We could see inside and it looked like it would be really good. So close but so far

This famous 600-year old building with its gorgeous colonnaded facade was formerly a house with ground floor warehouse, and is now an art museum. It is right on the Grand Canal in the Cannaregio neighborhood. The entrance fee is pretty expensive and perhaps not worth...More

Ca' d'Oro is an elaborately ornate building with a very long history. It was built a few centuries ago and in the process changed ownership several times. It now is a state museum. It is probably worth visiting if this is the only such building...More

Very steep admission price of €13 for what you get, there is a student discount but this only applies to arts students. This place used to be adorned in gold in its heyday, hence the name (oro means gold). You get a nice collection of...More

If you're a carpet expert, this might interest you. Otherwise, save your money. The show principally serves to provide further evidence of the fact that when carpets are shown in Renaissance paintings, their role is minor and incidental. The paintings are beautiful, first-class works. But...More

I visited for the building alone. It dates back to the 15th century and the facade fronting the Grand Canal is beautiful (containing what seems like a variety of architectural influences), as is the inner courtyard and upstairs loggia. The contents of Galleria Franchetti include...More

Don't know specifically. My wife took her small purse into the museum, so it may depend on how small the backpack is. It could be left at the checkin desk.
