Must see; easily accessible by vaporetto. Wonderful view of Venice, and worth a nice short stroll by itself. The really nice thing about this island was that it was not very crowded, as a lot of folks did not bother to take the short trip across the water from the main island. Can be a bit windy, but well worth... More

The church San Giogio Maggiore dominates a small Island across Piazza San Marco (St. Mark`s Square) and Guidecca Island and is considered one of Andrea Palladino masterpieces of architecture. The entire complex of buildings is worth visiting, the view across the lagoon towards the Panorama of Venice is breath taking.. You can get there by "vaporetto" line 2 (Exit St.... More

yes, take the vaporetto to this island. go to the church (free) and take the lift (small fee) up to the bell tower. The best view of Venice - you get to see San Marco, the lagoon and the sea. You may want to time it that you are not up there with the bells when they ring on the... More

It's 100% worth hopping on the vaporetto over to this little island in the lagoon. It's only a short ride away, but it gives you an amazing perspective on the city of Venice, especially if you go up the church bell tower (there's a lift!). Here you truly get a sense of the incredible feat the Venetians undertook building a... More

It was especially cold the day we braved the trio over so didn't do much exploring save the church and the bell tower. The view from the top is worth the trip in itself though

Take the vaporetto across the bacino to San Giorgio Maggiore and see Venice from a whole new perspective. Take the elevator up to the top of the bell tower (6 Euro) for the most amazing views of the whole of Venice spread out before you. Panoramic. Spectacular. Beautiful. And don't miss the simplicity and beauty of the church - sit... More

Breath-taking! You will enjoy a magnificent view of Venice and the surrounding lagoon and minor islands. If possible I strongly suggest you to visit in the afternoon of a sunny day. Ticket: 6 euro / person
