Ate here on our first night in Venice and the food was very good. View was amazing and great for just people watching

This is a quiet, safe area with great bars and restaurants offering far better value for money than the tourist traps in the centre of Venice.

We rented an apartment in the Cannaregio district and made that our home base. It is convenient walking to all the major sights and it is a quiet neighborhood in the evening. You really feel like a Venetian staying here. Would highly recommend

So much quieter here than all the hustle and bustle of St Mark's ad the Rialto etc. You can walk without being hassled to buy a selfie-stick and enjoy 'locals' Venice, esecially if you move off the Grand Canal to the subsidiaries.

We rented an apartment right on the canal with great access to coffee shops, grocery stores, local cuisine and lower number of tourists. You do a ton of walking in Venice and you can get to the big 3(st Mark's, doges palace and the Rialto...More

Venice is so busy and this little area is a small haven away from the bustle but full of interest and good restaurants.

Busy with both tourists and locals, this place is buzzing. Lots of bars and restaurants of varying prices. Great area from which to get to other parts of Venice. Highly recommend.

Cannereggio has a really different atmosphere to the bustle of San Marco, one busy street dissolves into interesting side streets, a more residential area. Very peaceful - but walking distance to the popular sights. Next time I visit Venice I will be looking to rent...More

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district)
with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many
transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying
areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand
for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal
bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution,
2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli
Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby

There are cheaper public transport options but I like to splash out and spend the €110 on a private transfer. Leaves from the airport right to your hotel door and it's the fastest way.
