This small island is a bit off the usual Venetian path, but it’s worth seeing. Its Santa Maria Assunta church houses impressive mosaics, its bell tower offers great surrounding views—and it’s home to Locanda Cipriani, a well-regarded restaurant and hotel that played host to writing legend Ernest Hemingway .

This is a small quiet island of Venice. It is home to the oldest church in the area. It was very interesting and wonderful to see the church given its age and historical value. Not much else here , there are beautiful gardens. My family...More

Torcello Island offers you a look at one of the first churches in Venice. It is beautiful. It's amazing as to how it has been maintained over all these years.

We went to Torcello on the 3 island tour (which was itself great value and very enjoyable). Next time I go to Venice, I'll spend more time there. It's quiet, green and peaceful, which was a contrast to the city. Due to time limits, we...More

This is such a secluded island, a few restaurants and market stalls, all worth it to see the ancient tiny church. If you have an island hopping boat ticket, try and get there.

On a tour of the lagoon, this was the last stop. After the hustle and bustle of Burano , it was actually lovely to walk along the paths to the old church and then enjoy refreshments. If you are after major tourist attractions you will...More

Beautiful to see and well worth the 40 minute boat ride San Marco. Walking the path up to the cathedral you'll pass one of the few rail list bridges left in the area. No pictures are allowed in the cathedral but the mosaic art and...More

A nice island with a very old 13 century church (you are not allowed into the church with sleeveless tops and your knees showing!). We had both but we're allowed to stand by the front door. No photos. Some vendors selling some very nice lace...More

We first visited Burano which is absolutely stunning. So Torcello was a bit of a let down. The vaporetto is not so frequent and if you are not planning on visiting the paid church then there isn't much to do. Souvenirs here are cheaper than...More
