This small island is a bit off the usual Venetian path, but it’s worth seeing. Its Santa Maria Assunta church houses impressive mosaics, its bell tower offers great surrounding views—and it’s home to Locanda Cipriani, a well-regarded restaurant and hotel that played host to writing legend Ernest Hemingway .

Everyone who can do so should come here both for the beauty and to appreciate some relevant history. Around 1100 when mainland Italy was the playground of "barbarians" and no one was safe for long (some would say this hasn't changed since then!) some refugees(!)...More

The island of Torcello is really worth visiting. It still has the original mosaics. If you can go up on the Campanile, the view is worth the 250 steps (more or less)

We only had 45 minutes as part of a half day tour of the three islands and unlike Murano and Burano this seemed to be enough time. It is quite a walk from the boat to the church (very old at 639AD), the bridge is...More

Definitely worth the boat ride out to this Venetian island - the birthplace of Venice. Follow the path to the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and visit the Medieval mosaics. Some of the most beautiful mosaic floors and wall art in the world.

Where Venito started, this is its roots, Don't miss it. We used a day ticket on the vaporetto, just a 10 minute vaporetto ride from Burano. And a good 10 minute walk from the pier is the oldest church in the area. The church is...More

When you visit Venice, I would highly recommend to visit Murano, Burano and Torcello islands. There is a very good glass manufacturing unit in Murano island. It's very beautiful. Don't miss these islands. The Vaporette (water bus) takes you to the islands. Also, there are...More

This is kind if where everything started. One of the oldest settlements in the lagoon. It used to be a city of considerable size back in its days when people fled Attila the Hun to the islands. Today a wonderful church with breathtaking mosaics and...More
