Great market

Great market with fresh seafood and produce. Even if you are not there to buy anything it is very fun to walk through and see all of the vendors

We walked over the Rialto Bridge to reach the market. Our second visit it was much busier and so much more to see. This is a happening place with great food available direct from the sea or farms.

Such a variety of fresh seafood for sale here. Fruits and vegetables, herbs and dried products. Bustling with activity, locals and visitors alike. Right on the water where everything comes in by boat.

Fresh seafood, at a nice price. All news to come. We got some cheap seafood for four people under 70 euro.

My family was lucky enough to grab and AirBnB near this market, and we were able to visit this market everyday if we wanted to. Here, there is a huge array of seafood, meats, and some herbs and vegetables around as well. Major things for us were the huge crabs and shrimp we were able to cook up. A highlight... More

Lovely stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables, open most mornings. Really interesting to see all the produce come in via boat! Definitely worth going.

Walked over to the Rialto Mercado. Very extensive market specializing in fruits, vegetables, flavored rice’s and risottos, seasonings, every kind of seafood you could imagine. The meat and poultry markets were in store fronts lining the outside of the market. It was fun to watch how the merchandise was delivered and the trash removed while watching all the action of... So much of Venice is like a museum so it is good to see a really lively market so close to the major tourist spots. I particularly like the fish stalls, all sorts of fish and all looking very fresh.

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
