It's no wonder that this is one of the most historic and picturesque squares in Italy: in antiquity, it served as a Roman forum; today, it contains many historic buildings, sculptures with a popular and colorful market overflowing with fresh fruits and vegetables.

When you are in Verona this is a must to see - lots of statues, and frescos and cafes for a drink. It is a wonderful place to people watch - but can be crowded on the weekends.

Beautiful buildings, elegant area, even cars are rather better. Market as itself isn't impressisve but gives more life to the place. Many places to eat, some gelato, fountain. What else you need in the city?

My goodness! The history is extraordinary. The original of the 300+ frescos are still on the buildings above the restaurants which are now $2m homes to the rich! Wonderful restaurants - we ate at 3 of them! Loved every one. Even in the pouring rain...More

Very busy Piazza. Characterful with good restaurants at the top and to the right just off the Piazza. Busy market which seemed to be on every day. Only market we found in the area of the Italian lakes that wasn't ridiculously priced. Two minutes from...More

How many Piazza's can you review if you are in Italy?! This is up there with all the others, clean vibrant, busy, expensive if you want to eat there, but worth a visit. There is a permanent market in the middle selling everything from fruit...More

There are lits of restaurants and shoos in the area. There was also a market on the tuesday. Not sure if it is on other days. Side streets are also very nice. Near the Arena.

Walking around this square, memories of my youth flooded my consciousness. While today it certainly caters to the tourist traffic, I found myself reliving moments with my mother...in 1960.

A beautiful historic square, equally worth visiting during the day or at night when it's floodlit. The market stalls aren't that great, but the reason to visit is the amazing architecture.

Pretty square, busy with tourists and the hub to most places you'll want to visit. Whilst quite charming there are better bars and restaurants in the city - although we appreciate many will want to sit and watch the hubbub from the outdoor seating. The...More
