Simple arch near Castle. You can walk right up to it. A little out of place next to Medieval architecture. Restaurant opposite is great!

When I saw this white Veronese marble arch next to Castelvecchio, it seemed out of place to me, especially with the Adige river at its rear. I thought this Roman arch must have been moved here and wondered why. Later, I learned a bit of its history. The original arch went up in the 1st century A.D. to honor the... More

Near an ancient palace you see this very nice Arc del Gavi, from here you visit the old castle of Verona, a historical area.

This freestanding arch is right next to Museo Castelvecchio with a busy bus/ tram stop directly in front. There is a lovely view of the Ponte de Castelvecchio and the river from the small park in which the arch sits. The arch itself is a nice photo opportunity but otherwise fairly unremarkable.

A good example of an ancient triumphal archway. Well preserved, has the original roadway beneath it.

Amazing to walk under this arch, it is not roped off, so that you can walk on the stones walked on by the Roman soldiers! Amazing!

Wonderful to be under, just imagining its construction and who and what passed through it. Neat to see where it was moved from, too.
