This small church is located behind the tombs of four members of the ruling Scaliger family, the fifth tomb is embedded in the wall over the entrance. It dates to 1185 when it replaced a church that was destroyed during the earthquake of 1177. The...More

This little12th century church is not always open, so check for timing and plan your trip to come back in because it is a little gem. Ancient and a perfect respite on a very hot day, or even a rainy day. Outside you find tombs...More

Verona has many wonderful, large and ornate churches but I was drawn to visit this small and modest one because of its history and the craziness of putting opulent and over the top tombs right outside it. Sadly the inside was closed when I visited...More

By comparison with the larger, heavily ornate churches which abound in Verona, this small church has a more restrained style and its history is tied to the Scaligeri family who ruled Verona in mediaeval times; whose Palazzo was nearby and who used this as their...More

Small church with nice ambiance. There are several little areas to be by yourself if you'd like. There is a side chapel we didn't visit, as there was a man using it. Can't blame him.

After visiting the amazing tombs of Verona's ruling Scaligeri family just outside it was nice to step into this quiet, peaceful church, which dates back to 1185. It was the Scaligeri family's private chapel and there's even one of their tombs over the Church door!

A lovely example of medieval church, simple and still with a quiet atmosphere. Try to visit when it is not too busy.
